ABOUT MADI:

Hi! I’m Madi Maitz.

I know seeking therapy can feel like the most vulnerable step and finding the right fit can be challenging… I’m glad your search led you here. I like to share with my clients that while they are meeting me as a potential therapist for themselves, I am human first and have navigated the therapist search too!

I grew up playing competitive hockey and attribute those years as the foundation of my love for movement and the power and autonomy it offers me and my body. I view movement as a foundational pillar of mental health and integrate this knowledge into my practice. I am a daughter, sister, friend… I love hiking, running with my dog Leni, CrossFit (yay for trying new things as an adult!), travelling, coffee shops, and connecting with my family and friends.

Before moving to beautiful Kelowna, BC, I lived in Ontario where I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and minored in Psychology & Mental Health. I was working in mental health support for 7 years in roles such as; support for children and families with mental health challenges and developmental disabilities, development and management of mental health programs for adults, substance use counselling for individuals and families. I then moved on to pursue my Masters's degree in Clinical Social work at UBCO and have called Kelowna home since. It is an absolute honour and privilege to be here and share my passion for holistic mental health with the Okanagan community.

My Areas of Focus

Holistic Wellness

At Mind Movement Therapy, I offer a holistic approach rooted in polyvagal theory to support your journey toward healing and self-discovery. By integrating mind-body techniques and understanding the role of the nervous system in emotional regulation, therapy aims to create a balanced, safe space for transformation. Through this approach, I guide you to reconnect with yourself, fostering resilience and well-being by addressing both the psychological and physiological aspects of your experience.

I draw primarily from polyvagal-informed therapy to support emotional and nervous system regulation, helping clients build resilience and cultivate safety in their bodies. I integrate somatic practices to encourage deeper body awareness and facilitate healing, and utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to process past trauma and rewire unhelpful patterns.
